Industry 4.0, born out of accelerated technology disruptions, is about moving toward industrial automation and flexible factory. It converges IT and operational technology to create a cyber-physical environment that monitors the physical processes of the factory and make decentralized decisions. While many organizations are embarking on this digital transformation path, others, especially small businesses, are skeptical of embracing this new world of digital. They consider Industry 4.0 as a big leap that would require heavy investment, time, and resources.

However, IAM-Wonderware, a frontrunner in the design and supply of industrial automation systems, believes that digitalization is for everyone, whether the company is small, medium, or large. Consequently, the company offers a broad range of digital transformation solutions, from industrial automation and digital proofreading to revolutionary wastewater filtration and environmental monitoring, helping every kind of organization improve their agility, flexibility, and operational performance. IAM leverages sophisticated digital technologies such as the Industrial Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing, digital twins, and augmented and virtual reality. “We incorporate Industry 4.0 into our framework and offer bite-sized pieces to our customers. Digitalization can begin on the mobile phone or through high-tech data collection, machine integrations, and implementation of deep intelligence using AI and machine learning to avoid auto corrections,” says Terence Tan, CEO of IAM-Wonderware. This approach has been successful among the company’s clients, who are positively surprised by the results and go ahead with the transformation journey.

Known for crafting such unique experiences for its clients since 1999, IAM was established as a distributor of Wonderware (now AVEVA) products in Malaysia. Today, the company remains a key player in the control and automation sector of the Malaysian process markets.

We incorporate Industry 4.0 into our framework and offer bite-sized pieces to our customers. We believe that digitalization is for everyone, whether the company is small, medium, or large

Harnessing AVEVA’s extensive product portfolio with traditional and sophisticated functions that integrate plant data and provide industrial intelligence, IAM helps clients in data management, business flow, asset performance, data analytics, cloud computing, and training.

IAM’s customized solutions empower clients with plant information in the most intelligent and accessible format to improve plant efficiency and make informed business decisions. Prominent among these solutions is AVEVA Insight, a secure and cost-effective industrial cloud platform that enables different stakeholders to access critical operations data in real time, enhancing collaboration between teams. The platform facilitates manufacturing equipment and production event data collection, storage, monitoring, and analysis to create proactive maintenance strategies. AVEVA Historian, AVEVA Historian clients, Wonderware Enterprise Integration, AVEVA Mobile Operator, Dream Report, and AVEVA BI Gateway are other stellar solutions that deliver significant value to clients. “We provide innovative solutions to capture data in any form or size, analyze, align it to user information, and enable real-time view in the form of dashboards,” explains Terence.

Highlighting IAM’s solutions’ efficiency, Terence cites an instance wherein the company helped a client with plant data integration. The client had standalone process machines of different models and generations from which production data was collected manually. The data collected was historical, and the management often got frustrated due to the inability to rectify any issue immediately. IAM came onboard and started with standardizing the machine data collection to produce a digital twin, a unique algorithm prepared to unify the data and store it digitally. The company also integrated other IT systems and produced different dashboards for operators and management. The operator’s dashboard enabled them to know what happens in real time and rectify the issue if the machine is having a bad run, reducing operational loss. The management dashboard automatically collected dimension data and other relevant information that the client didn’t have before through integration with systems. AVEVA Insight enabled the management to review the dashboard with any criteria and data range. The creation of data twin further enabled the management to have insights into details such as which machine runs, its efficiency, and whether it’s producing an old or new product. Further, IAM designed and developed a system to add more field machines, bolstering the client’s future expansion.

With numerous such success stories, IAM continues to leverage exceptional prowess in technology implementations and provide ingenious solutions to support organizations of every size in their digital transformation journey. “Digitalization is the way for a sustainable future, and we intend to deliver better yield, faster outcomes empowering our customers to retain knowledge,” concludes Terence.
